Is CBD Hurting Ibuprofen Sales?

You know in those cowboy movies when the good guy and the bad guy face off on the dusty main street of town. It’s almost high noon, and the good guy says, I don’t want to fight you, Earl and the bad guy says You better draw, varmint and all hell breaks loose and the bad guy gets it?

Imagine for a moment that CBD is the good guy and Ibuprofen is the bad guy in the scenario described in:

THE SCOOP

Funny thing about this article: the author never answers either question. But he must have had a reason for putting these two painfighters on this dusty street at high noon, so let’s see which one gets a white horse and which gets the pine box:

Ibuprofen:

I have to admit, I always forget which one is Ibuprofen

  • Main ingredient in Motrin and Advil

  • It’s a pharmaceutical drug created in a lab from propionic acid, a fatty acid used for its antibacterial qualities, and to repel mold (…someone thought this would be good to use inside the body…)

  • It’s operates on pain and inflammation by shutting down production of chemicals that cause pain

CBD:

  • CBD is not a drug, it’s a non-addictive, non-psychoactive organic compound extracted from the flowers any kind of cannabis sativa plants

  • People use CBD for over 200 different conditions and It’s famous for saving the lives of children with intractable epilepsy. The FDA has approved a CBD isolate for children as young as 2 years old.

  • Your body’s endocannabinoid system has evolved to use CBD to mediate pain and inflammation, and reduce anxiety

USES & DOSES:

Ibuprofen:

  • You use Ibuprofen only when you have pain, and

  • Standard Dose: 1,200 mg

CBD

  • CBD can be taken daily for general wellness, and specifically for pain.

  • Standards dose: 15-20 mg. (This suggests CBD is 60x more concentrated pain reliever...)

SIDE EFFECTS

Ibuprofen:

  • Complications occur about 25% of the time and can include

  • Upper gastrointestinal bleeding, ulcers, heartburn, headaches, dizziness, liver or kidney problems, edema, high blood pressure, heart attack, heart failure, stroke, and death, including at least 3,000 senior citizen deaths per year

CBD

  • CBD can cause minor side effects such dry mouth, diarrhea, reduced appetite, drowsiness and fatigue (Whoop dee doo)

  • CBD can react negatively with blood thinners (serious)

  • It has been announced the CBD can cause liver damage but that claim has been soundly discredited

  • CBD cannot cause death, nor can any of the other cannabinoids.

THE LOOP BACK

How messed up are drug laws in America?

  • Ibuprofen which can cause all those side effects including death, is sold in every pharmacy and supermarket in America.

  • CBD is NOT even a drug but it’s on the DEA’s Schedule 1 next to heroin.

So is CBD hurting Ibuprofen sales? One sure hopes so.

Which one works better for pain?

I’ll leave that to the medical professionals to advise.
