Government Cheese, Government Weed
With the bonkers "Ready, Fire, Aim..." strategery that only a massive bureaucracy can foist on Americans, the US Drug Enforcement Administration is going big on cannabis but in the most thoughtless way possible.
Per Forbes website: "... in a new Federal Register filing set to be published soon, the anti-drug agency is moving to more than quintuple the amount of cannabis that can legally be grown in the U.S. for research purposes—from roughly 1,000 pounds in 2018 to more than 5,400 pounds next year."
Does this mean that the crappy little grow they've got going in Mississippi is just not producing enough weak-tea cannabis leaves and stems for the "testing" that the government proposes to do? (Dear Readers, click that link and please don't be fooled by this "we're testing cannabis for the American public" nonsense.)
Can we put the brakes on this debacle and send a smoke signal to the DEA that there's a veritable shit-ton of cannabis available RIGHT NOW in the state of Oregon. No need to go through the deep investigation, licensing, and a season of cultivation and harvest on government farms. Oregon regulators have done the job for all Americans by licensing so many growers that Oregonians couldn't possibly consume it all. One million pounds of ready-to-test cannabis.
And guess what, DEA - they have testing labs right there.
Heck, if the DEA had come to us a month ago, we could have recommended they buy up the tens of thousands of pounds that California State Regulators required be destroyed July 1st, as part of their We-Care-We-Really-Do campaign to ensure that all Cally cannabis was tested by the non-existent testing labs... coz someone forgot to license enough labs, or push back the date of the Marijuanapocalypse.
And what about all the "bales of drugs" that folks are throwing over the border. Why not test that?
What about creating a Strategic Cannabis Reserve, like they have for oil? (Wow, how many young cadets would sign up for that duty?)
This whole debacle stinks like Government Cheese. How much are taxpayers going to have to pay for this silly program?
