Montana Collected $300,000 in Cannabis Taxes in Its First Quarter of Operations

Though the Montana medicinal cannabis industry went through unusual gyrations at the beginning, the State has now collected $300,000 in taxes for its first quarter of operations which ended in September, according to the Billings Gazette.

"It works out to be about $7.5 million in gross revenues," said Mary Ann Dunwell, spokeswoman for the Montana Department of Revenue.

The American Cannabis Report points out that the state's sales figures demonstrate exactly $7.5Million NOT going to black market cannabis street dealers, and $300,000 that never would have been collected from those dealers or the drug cartels that supply them.

Montana currently has about 610 providers and 20,000 patients registered with the state.
